"Why can't you be still?" This question/accusation bothers me, a lot. Younger and younger children are told to be still and listen. This is not what nature intended. Young children are built to explore, touch and experiment! They are meant to use their bodies to find out new information. When a child does not move, how do they learn to balance? When a child does not move, how do they learn body space awareness? When a child does not move, how do they learn? When looking for a place for your child to spend their entire day, ask yourself what you really want. I want my child to take risks, experiment and yes, fail. Because these things are the backbone of true learning. Do you want your child to sit still, or do you want your child to learn?
